JADE ON KONATSUUUUUU

JADE FIGURES HE IS MISLEADING KONATSU ABOUT THE FRIEND THING. It's true that outside of Emerald and people he knows are from his world, Konatsu is the closest equivalent he has to a friend. A chart of how different Konatsu is from a friend, though:

It is a very very long process to actually get to being his friend. Even then, Jade's not entirely sure whether he really wants friends so to speak. SO THERE IS A MINOR AMOUNT OF GUILT INVOLVED THERE but Jade figures Konatsu can handle it, so he never discusses it. \o/

In some ways Konatsu is registering as a subordinate, and understandably so since he's being continually addressed as Colonel instead of Mage or Jade. He doesn't remember what one does as a Colonel other than being military, so having a subordinate is a big \o/ WHAT DO? So far it's been, "I GUESS HE IS EASY TO POKE AT so I will poke." But he does understand that with all the respect and whatnot, it's clear that Konatsu's bound to do his damn best (if not moreso) by the people around him. Whiiiiich is a good and a bad thing in, Jade's mind, but nothing bad's happened so far, so he won't say anything further.

Other than that, Jade doesn't think too hard about Konatsu's existence.

KONATSU FEELS WEIRD ABOUT THE FRIEND THING TOO--like, he's often reluctant to call people that because he doesn't want to force that label on them if they don't want it. And he does, in this weird way, see Jade as a superior officer. He REALIZES that they're not in the same military and Jade has no authority over him, but it's comforting to him, in a way! Like . . . Konatsu is INCREDIBLY, PAINFULLY POLITE; in canon he never refers to people without their title even when they're hanging out casually. One of his memories he hasn't gotten yet is going to the onsen with the Black Hawks and all of them washing one another, and he still calls Kuroyuri "Commander Kuroyuri" while this is going on, so. When he found out Jade was a colonel it was like, Colonel Jade! Yay! This feels like what I remember of home! And the use of the word reinforces the relationship to him. Jade is his elder and is obviously pretty damn smart and is his military superior. It's hard to think of him as a "friend," but Konatsu would sort of . . . like to be friends? In a quiet way. Because he likes Jade, DESPITE EVERYTHING. :B He thinks Jade is an annoying jerk but overall isn't bad to be around and is someone worth listening to. Drunkenness aside, one of his favorite things at the party was just sitting with Jade in comfortable silence and watching people. IT WAS NICE.

His impression of Jade is really favorable right now, mixed with "AUGH YOU ARE A JERK AND AN IDIOT," which feels FAMILIAR TO HIM ON A SUBCONSCIOUS LEVEL LOL :'D and the more he remembers of Hyuuga the more this will be the case.

JADE'S FAVORITE PERSON IN AATHER RIGHT NOW?

Prooooobably Knife/KK? Mostly because he's glad to see that at least one person in Emerald is even keeled other than the whole thing that happened right before he arrived. Otherwise he hasn't really formed any close connections with anyone in Aather.

HOW IS JADE AN IDIOT

UR DUM! But no mostly it's tsun because Jade teases him, ha ha. Konatsu doesn't . . . get why he's so teaseable. And he's like, YOU'RE A GROWN MAN, HAVE SOME SHAME IN PICKING ON YOUR SUBORDINATE OFFICER! In a way he sort of doesn't mind and he enjoys teasing back though Konatsu's not very good at teasing. BUT HE TRIES, sometimes, when he's in a good mood or feeling dere for someone. But he mostly just feels like, why does this man do this, that idiot!!!

How's he dealing with the Emerald Implosion?

He's dealing by being completely avoidant! He doesn't ever purposely seek out people that are in serious depression because sometime in the first few days with his whole team in a tizzy, he realized I KINDA SUCK AT THIS. The suckage is enough that Jade would much rather do something else than attempt comfort if he can damn well avoid it. Actually, just about anything that makes him uncomfortable atm is to be avoided. >>

Otherwise he's been around Emerald long enough to recognize that, given time, their heads will cool and reason can set in better, so he's just going about getting some things done outside of games.

Hyuuga gets apped and joins Emerald. What will you do, Konatsu?

But yeah Hyuuga and Jade would probably . . . well idk man like part of me says they'd get along but Hyuuga is also like the unholy lovechild of Jade and Peony. Which is terrible. Hyuuga might annoy the shit out of him. OR MAYBE NOT IT DEPENDS. But either way Hyuuga arriving and joining ANY other team would actually fuck with Konatsu a lot because he's already having some issues of divided loyalty, but at this point Ruby very firmly comes first and that's not going to change. Whereas Hyuuga showing up and being on Emerald or something would be A STEP INTO THE UNCOMFORTABLE as far as conflict of interests.

. . . Mostly though he'd get teased endlessly and suffer and tsun and yell a lot. So not a whole lot different. :Da

WELL ENOUGH although I am behind.

I don't think they'd really get along. They're enough alike that they'd both probably react to the other as YOU ARE TREADING ON MY FUN 8) and possibly things of a bad nature might ensue. Which. With both of them at full power would be one of the wrongest things ever can I say, if severely overdramatic in the amount of power they would pour out into it. But they'd probably get along enough to timeshare Konatsu or combine forces to break his brain further so Jade can have his fun and Hyuuga gets out of whatever responsibilities Konatsu thinks he should have.

Also there's the thing about Ayanami. Hyuuga is (afaik) all about following him to the ends of hell and back. Jade may be more loyal to Peony than most, but if situations dictate that there is a better option not involving Peony, he will bail ship and take whoever is appropriate with him, no questions asked. Such a strong loyalty isn't really something Jade's willing to put forth effort into. The closest he ever came to that was with Nebilim and she's already dead and all that. \o\

In some ways, I think if 1) Hyuuga had more backstory and 2) Ten liked 07-Ghost more, you may have seen her talk me into apping Hyuuga instead. :|a

I WANT A HAKUREN! selfishly . . . ha ha. Because I would love to interact with one because he and Konatsu are pretty good foils. And because I'd love to see him interacting with Shuri.

Other than that, Kuroyuri and Castor, especially after whatever happens next month ahhh ahhhhh.

ANY PLANS TO APP MORE?

YES I just have to. Get around to. Deciding which ones I'll play longer to avoid dropping midway. Because HNNNGGGH I have three potentials, two of which are more likely to get castmates than the first one that's half-written right now. I think I'd probably do best with two more than I would with three, WHICH MAKES THIS DECISION WAY HARDER.

HOURAIJI KYOUICHI FROM TOKYO MAJIN but the anime's ending could've been don way better, among other issues, so I don't really blame anyone for not touching it with a ten foot stick.

How's Konatsu doing with his ~*feelings*~ in general?

UGH HE HAS SO MANY OF THEM! It's really annoying and distracting and oh god what's happening to me! ALL OF THIS WEIRD STUFF HAS HAPPENED TO ME OVER THE COURSE OF THREE DAYS COLONEL JADE WHY ;;

But yeah he . . . has feelings. He has this giant crush on Asch but he's trying to ignore it because there's really no positive outcome, and Konatsu is REPREEEEESSSSED, and he's pretty sure Asch likes other people a lot more so well why even bother! So he doesn't plan on doing anything about it except for being a teenage girl over it in private, which incidentally is very draining and exciting and generally preoccupying all at once. IT IS A NEW EXPERIENCE and he vacillates wildly between hating every second of it and being pretty happy.

Other than that JADE JUST INJECTED HORMONES DIRECTLY INTO HIS BRAIN AND THAT WAS SUPER WEIRD, THANKS, WHY WOULD YOU EVEN!! So that didn't uncomplicate things. But MOSTLY otherwise he's pretty good; he feels like he's in a good place with his team right now after he took his bad memory, he's going to be trying to relax some, he's trying to take better care of himself and be more social and all that. His memory hit him really hard but he's working through it, and he'll be all right. He has friends who are there to talk to and is meeting new people! So he's MAKING AN EFFORT. He's had a lot of personal issues since the Three game but some of them are getting resolved at least. Others will just be hilarious forever.

What horrible advice would Jade give him. Konatsu actually kind of wanted to confide in him about his memory but 1. third person and 2. EAR BLOWING
